Opening Reception...

"The Object… assembled, disassembled and reassembled"
Two new artists exhibiting at Charlene's Gallery Ten - reception on Saturday, August 21 from 5 - 7 PM

Mark Haberle establishes surreal connections between objects that don't normally relate. He works like a theatrical set designer spending hours selecting and arranging the "set" for a painting thinking of it as a 3-D composition first, followed by a 2-D rendering of that vision. For Mark, still life painting is about creating deep relationships with things that would normally be considered inanimate.
"It would be much easier to paint an apple if I didn't know it was an apple," says Haberle.
When artist
Julie Feider-Grisar looks back into the past she realizes that art has always been one of the most important aspects of her life. Using a mosaic process of design and construction, she is continually bringing parts back into a whole.
"It serves as a metaphor for life itself," she explains.

Julie pieces together dissimilar objects, making use of that which others often see as unusable. Her mosaics become a palate of color, pattern, shape, and texture using tile, plates and glass to express an unlimited collection of ideas and inspiration.

You can enjoy an exhibit of both artists' work at Charlene's Gallery Ten in Gills Rock from August 21 through September 24. Enjoy wine and cheese and meet Mark Haberle and Julie Feider-Grisar in person at a reception on Saturday, August 21 from 5 - 7 PM.
