Charlene's Fall Finale: Traeton Garl & Laura Yost Manthey

More than willing to risk bringing forth the unusual, my final
exhibit in Gills Rock will complete the 2005 Gallery Ten art season… not
with a whimper, but a bang! Two outstandingly distinctive artists,
Traeton Garl
and Laura Yost Manthey
will display a feast for the connoisseur in search of a fresh and challenging display of personal artistic expression.
| Garl entitles his portion of the exhibit, "Figure
& Form, an Exploration of Dimension." He explains that
he has chosen the female nude as his subject matter because he finds that the female figure has a "timeless
elegance and beauty… a degree of honesty and purity not available in the clothed figure." |

Laura Yost Manthey speaks in black and white, presenting the results of a lifetime devoted to expressive
journaling, using words and images in a seamless fusion.

"As an artist and a thinker, I have spent countless hours in my journals.
There is companionship there," she confesses, "and a sense of time and place." |
I invite you to meet both of these artists in person at a reception I am
hosting for them on Saturday, September 24 from 5 - 7 PM. See their work on display at Gallery Ten in Gills Rock through October 28.

We are pleased to be numbered among a new alignment of five of the northernmost artists and galleries
known as the Gills Rock Artisans.
Being located up here at the tip of the Peninsula, we lead the way when it comes to witnessing the intense fall
color that sweeps south each year. The Gills Rock Artisand intend to celebrate color each Autumn with a working

Beside our new exhibit, we look forward to Peter
'Birdog' Daniels performing with his old-time instrumental claw-hammer
banjo at Gallery Ten on Saturday, October 1, from 2 - 3:30 PM. GT Coffee will be serving some special treats each
day, as well as espresso drinks, cherry pie and a chance at catching a glimpse of Art and Cuppa Joe, the art poodles.
